Valvetrain questions related to the swap
Valvetrain questions related to the swap
Here's my feeling with the VQ35--it breathes well enough that most headwork gains are revealed in doing a valve job.
So,in preparation for my swap, I have valve questions:
1) I remeber Tilley and possibly others using the titanium valves from a Q45. Do these fit the 3.5. IIRC they are a direct swap for the 3.0 but maybe not the 3.5??
2) Assuming I used an aftermarket valve, do you need new valvesprings and retainers? Like, using a Ferrea valve? or does it depend on the valve itself??
3) If i continue building this engine to the neighborhood of 11.5 to 12.0 compression, is it worth it to polish the combusion chamber? The goal is to cut down on detonation and help safely advance timing.
Misc question: What do you really need from the 3.5 harness if I am using the 3.0 timing equiptment?? I searched and all I could find was the injector clips and maybe the CPS. Is this right?? more imporantly is this advisable??
Thanks again folks. I start ordering my parts Friday.

2)should get new retainers just because theyre cheap, but you probly dont need to. you should only need new springs if youre stepping to larger lift cams.
3) polish yourself or pay? certainly if yo do it yourself it is.
if its not in the stickies then...
