VQ35 swapped cold start issue
How do you guys blockoff the PF TB? Just JB weld everywhere in the holes? or is there a plate or something? In the morning when I start the car, I have to hold the gas for about 2 min, otherwise the car shuts off. any advice? I am about to go reroute the 4th gen IACV as close as possible to the manifold. Remote start is pointless...... cuz as soon as it starts it shuts off.
I dont understand what you're saying. Do you HAVE the IACV hooked up? If so, is it working? I used to have to do that holding the gas thing at first cus my TPS was off calibration. Yes you can make a plate to sandwish bet'n the bottom of the TB and the PF IACV. Aluminum sheet metal with silicone worked just fine for me.
Yes, I have the IACV hooked up, but is it working? I dunno What is the easiest way to check? right now the car is somewaht taken apart so I cant test anything ATM. Perhaps by the end of Saturday it should be put back together
so the PF TB doesnt have a fast idle cam like the 4th gen TB, If I install a 4th gen TB would that help with anything(with the cold start issue)?

LEAVE THE SET SCREW ON THE THROTTLE BODY ALONE !!!!
You have to make sure your TPS is adjusted properly as per the directions on the website. If its out of spec it will severely mess up cold starts. (I KNOW) I have mine set perfect after LOTS of messing with.
On the Pathy TB, you should have a block off place on the bottom of the TB, where the pathfinder IACV was removed. I filled in all those passages with JB weld as well, then just plated it off on the bottom.
All your adjustments should come from the TPS after warming up the car. I used to take a ride, get the car warm, then remove the tb fast, go inside and ajust the TPS to spec. .5 at idle and 4 at WOT (something like that, check the website)

I made a block off plate from a $5 hand saw from homedepot. Cut it to shape, smoothed edges, drilled the holes, put silicone around the outside and sandwished it bet'n the bottom of the TB and the PF IACV. No leaks there for almost a year.

Just out of curiousity, does anyone else have the following issue......
Occasiionally, and only after long highway drives, my IACV goes 'tick tock tick tock tick tock' No lie, it sounds just like a clock, and it speeds up when I rev the engine a little. Kinda bugged me out the very first time. On the occasions when it does do it, the idle gets a little rough as well. Just curious if anyone else has noticed this, since I fear replacing it might not remedy, not that I care much as I have bigger fish to fry right now.

okay ECU screw is all the way counter clockwise, the TPS seems to be set correctly because the SAFC readout tells me .5V throttle closed and 4V throttle open....what else to try?
I was thinking, what if I had two hoses running from the IACV to the intake manifold instead of one? Would that accomplish anything? I shortened the hoses leading to the IACV and from it, and it seems like the idle stabilizes a bit quicker.
Ummm what else,,,,,AFPR is set at 34 psi at idle and goes up to about 40-42 psi at WOT.....

I dunno it just reminded me of when you found the ebay chip in there....lol and the elaborate network framework out of duct tape..... lmao, im only joking of course, its jjust hilarious reading some of the stuff the other guys come up with on the other fourm. On the other hand, would You have any other ideas to help me out?

I relocated my IACV so there's literally only 2" of hose separating the IACV from the barb I put in the IM (right by the brake booster barb) and now my car fires up in the cold without much issue (when it's 30F overnight, I still have to feather the throttle for a second or two).
