A33B MAF

Hey guys, well figured out my MEVI issue, so now its time to move onto more intersting mods.

My dads 02 maxima blew a maf, so we got it replaced with the AM600 unit, so i have a dead 2Y920? maf in the garage. All this talk about the landrover maf on the VQ35 has got me thinking, would it be worth it to try hack apart my a32 maf and use the A33B maf housing?

I believe it is bigger, by how much im not too sure, i have to go find my a33b maf then measure it then measure my a32 maf, unless someone knows the size of it off hand, that would be great.

Obviously i will be getting it re-tuned, or perhaps if i find a decentlly priced innovative lm1 for sale ill tune it myself.

Im also looking at my options for a TB. Perhaps the pathfinder TB and ill try rig up my own TB adapter.

A33B ID = A32 MAF ID, identical.

Sensor is different, not worth the trouble. Do a search. 95BLK and 915 Max and 96sleeper have both done this 'mod' (bore/fabricate a larger housing using the A32 sesnor)

Wow thanks Nmexmax. I swear when i was playing wit that maf before it seemed bigger, but i am just going by memory..which i guess isnt too good haha. I will definately try that 3" MAF mod, i got some PVC piping from work, that was pre bent and had nipples for hoses, no clue what it was off, never seen a factory car with grey pvc intake piping, but ill see what i can do with that, ill measure the ID and see if its any bigger then the stock a32 maf. Maybe then ill get another maf and hack it apart and take my time doing it!

Thanks and i will re-dyno and post up the results + DRF's

you could always use the spare tube to bore out, then you have an extra if you f up. its worth a try, considering its useless otherwise

Spare tube, bore out? A32 is different than the A33. At the end of SR's 3" PVC thread, JSutter has a pic of it. And of course in the provided links there are pics for comparison.

yes i know, but what hes talking about he would need to use epoxy anyway. he could just bore out the a33b maf and epoxy the sensor into it, just like with the PVC maf tube

But transferring the A32 'head' would be a monkeys butt. It would be more time effective to do the 95BLK/915max method.

Spend more time a little more intimately with the A32 housing and then see what we mean.
