back to stock..will 4th gen upper fit on 00 motor leaving 00 rear vc on??

I did a dek swap last year, but want to go back to 4th gen upper set up because my cold starts are terrible, no egr, no iacv and I want it all back for idle, emissions sake, and cold starts. I have all the parts to go back including a 4th gen rear vc, I just want to know if it will fit if I dont change the rear vc back to the 4th gen one.

Thanks,
Matt

Hey man! Still waiting to put on that 00vi you sold me...haha!

Your answer: Yes, it should. With the 00vi swap, the coil pack bosses were the issue, but the DEK valve covers didnt have them. So it should fit.

Why not just add an IACV and get the car running properly?

or if you have a 5g tb and iacv, you can wire it up to that as well.

There ya go than! It's almost plug and play once you destroy part of the electrical connector. MOHFpro can give you more info though.

saw that before...does it actually work? I mean idle properly (not at frickin 1400) and react properly under load from A/C or power steering? I'm just gonna go with no...and won't the ecu throw a CEL without the 4th gen IACV hooked up?

yeah, I saw that. I guess I am just in disbelief. I'll have to try it myself.

but what about the other two connectors from the 4th gen IACV? the pink and purple ones that would be connected to NOTHING when using the 5th gen IACV. I can only imagine that's gonna throw a CEL.

even if it did idle properly etc. I'm not driving around with a permanent CEL. I'll spend the money for an IACV adapter.

I'll just patiently wait for someone to make me eat my words

if it did, i wouldn't be running it on my 00vi.

it idles over 1000 when cold, comes down to 600-700 when warm.
no CELs thrown. when ac or power steering i haven't had problems.

the only problem i do have is in really cold weather, the idles do drop quite a bit sometimes, to the point near stalling, so i just make a conscious effort to tap the gas if i come out of gear into neutral. after it warms up though it's fine and i can't really see a better setup since this one was easy to do.

consider my words eaten.

although I must say, i'd rather fork over a couple bucks for the adapter to have it behave completely stock-like.

It won't behave completely "stock-like" unless you get one of 5 custom adaptors floating around, or shell out $350+ dollars to have a pretty complicated custom one made up.

huh?

5 custom adapters? Stephenmax sells them and there are others floating around too. where did the $350 come from? I've seen one go for $65. Are we talking about different things?

EDIT: I'm just talking about a plate with a nipple. I could care less if the IACV is mounted on the 00VI. Just as long as it runs properly...

Lies. Mine starts and idles perfectly except in below freezing temps, and it never used to do that until this winter. I have a remote mounted 4th gen IACV.

That's how your post should have read, to say it is a lie is completely wrong. Ask Matty. Ask MaximaSE327. Just because YOU didn't have any issues doesn't make that statement correct.

Speaking of lies, a year ago you were the one who told me 100% without a doubt that the 5th gen iacv wouldn't work even if you spliced in the wires. Now THAT was a lie.

direct mounted 5th gen or pathy IACV > direct mounted 4th gen iacv (which isn't even a viable option anymore, and yes we were talking about different things) > remote mounted 4th gen IACV

Unless a statement is true for all cases, it's a incorrect. Therefore what I said isn't incorrect. What you said is, because you said it will never idle "stock-like." Mine idles "stock-like", just not in the cold. That was an issue I used to have when I first bought the car when it was STOCK. I never said without a doubt the 5th gen IACV wouldn't work either, I knew it would. I forget who exactly, but I already knew someone had one working he just had miniscule issues with getting the plug to work since no one had ever done it before and wasn't sure it was going to work at the time (he hadn't even tested it).

Also, just because other people had issues doesn't make my statement wrong. A few people can't get theirs to work, therefore it's automatically a bad option? It's not the best option, I will admit that, physics dictates that. What got up your rear end?
