00vi: normal operation vs. power rod tied open vs. power rod removed

I was wondering if anyone has an comparisons for those 3 cases. There was a power rod tied open vs power rod removed link in the stickies but it no longer works. Even if its not an actual dyno image if someone could give a rough estimate of the differences that would be very helpful. The reason is I think i messed up the orientation of my power rod so that it doesnt quite fucntion properly. I think I may have JBWeld'd the cup on the VIAS in the wrong position. When I went to go dyno, I saw the hp spike up a bit when the RPM switch kicked in at 5200 which means the power rod is turning but the HP starts to drop off way too early (like around 6000rpms) and ends up dropping quite a bit once i hit my rev limit at 7200 (its about a 20hp drop from the peak at 6000). Also my overall numbers were quite a bit lower than other cars with the same mods. So I am thinking it might just be better to remove the power rod entirely and wanted to see how much of a difference this would make. From what Ive read it seems like power rod completely removed gives the best top end (3-5hp more) but Im not sure how much loss in low end it gives. If the loss is substantial then It might be worth my time to try and get the rod operating normally.

Edit: I guess im not too interested in the power rod tied open case. Just normal operation vs power rod removed.

Sorry, no info here...but I just made the same mistake last night. I'm thinking I might be able to drill out the jbweld and redo it. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Pop the small vias cover on the driverside off, pull the larger vias cover off as well and slowly & carfully pull the vias rod to the driverside and look in from the passanger side, you should be able to verify if the cup is properly aligned.

just an update. I did remove the power rod finally and it is doable by just opening up the passenger side. The reason I had trouble was because the power rod was jbweld'd to the VIAS cup. So basically I had to break the cup on purpose to get the rod out. There isnt much wiggle room and you have to get around the wiring harness and timing cover but it does eventually wiggle out.

also with the power rod removed low end power is completely gone. It is alot worse than I expected. No dyno numbers to prove it but car was noticeable much slower until 5500 rpms where it then picks up. if there is a top end gain it is very small compared to the low end loss.

also if anyone has an extra VIAS and power rod for sell let PM me please
