once you cut it, u cant "mess with the variable" . Unless you have a spare IM laying around.

That link is ALSO comparing full open and full closed of the VI. Read it again

I've learned to live with it, for the time being... I still want a 5AT.

but tranny rebuilding is quit expensive for our vq35 cars!

and there are no other performance parts for our 4AT tranny except the Transgo shift kit

And the max tuning VB mod. Jime did a high ( can't remember the RPM) stall converter too, so your statement is a little vague and misleading.

Yeah. I got an Edge Racing high stall torque converter made for my 92 VE Auto since I read that this guy has built custom high stall torque converters for the automatic RWD VQ35s. I got mine several years and am still VERY happy with the results of my 2900-3000 stall. Jime got roughly the same stall from Edge Racing in his VQ35 4th gen, I believe, and he is very happy with it also.

Also, you're right. I'm sure Maximum Tuning can do several levels of shift kits for the VQ35 automatic. They did my shift kit over 5 years ago and I still love it!

Also, right now, Jime is working on an automatic tranmission controller which should be able to control up and down shift points precisely as well as torque converter lockup points in every gear. That will be VERY useful for all types of racing. But most people will like the fact that rigging up paddle shifters will be easy with this controller. That's not what I need though for drag racing. I leave it in D and hang onto the steering wheel with both hands while the tranny shifts at the correct points.
