SSIM: Gutting the elbow?

i thought about it. any possible gains? wouldnt it be just like gutting the rest of the IM? more effective plenum volume. i doubt you would lose power. i think when i get a port/polish kit i will gut the elbow as best i can. well see if i do or not though
Well, someone on here (I forget who) literally got rid of the elbow entirely. IIRC they removed the elbow and made an adapter to bolt a Pathy 70mm throttlebody directly to the manifold.
kirsmax tossed it and saw some decent top end gains. Not sure if he dyno'd, but he did do a 1/4 mile run IIRC.
I've heard it wont make a difference.(gutting elbow, but leaving in place)

I would think that sharpening the elbow shelf would be slightly beneficial with the SSIM. But completely removing the entire elbow shelf would be really tough and it doesn't look like it'll help at all with airflow b/c of how the walls are shaped.
