Torque Converter

I have already asked this question in another thread, and one person (ScottWax) pointed me in the direction that it could be my torque converter. I thought I would ask this in the All Motor section because you guys have more knowledge of torque converters. My car is a 2002 GLE (auto).

After my car has been warmed up for at least 5 minutes, it makes a clicking sound when in gear and the accelerator is pressed. If I'm just coasting, there is no sound. If it's in park or neutral, you can't hear it at all, even when revving the engine. It is basically a clicking sound that gets faster as the RPMs go up. When it is changing from 1st to 2nd or from 2nd to 3rd, it makes a grinding type of noise. Once in the next gear, the clicking sound comes back and gets faster as the RPMs climb. Once I'm in 3rd or 4th gear, I can't really hear it too much anymore...it becomes more of a grinding sound. After researching torque converters, it sounds like this could definitely be the issue. I need some input, because I really need to do something about this. It's been going on for 4-5 months now. Thanks for any help.

Whether or not the members that frequent this section are generally more knowledgeable, it doesn't belong here.

Good luck to ya.
