This guy is claiming that he's making 286whp, with a stock VQ35DE, with intake, headers, and exhaust.. lol..

http://myspecv.com/f/t176077-vqd-spe...staytuned.html

He has a dyno, and I've tried to tell him that those numbers are off, but, he insists that they're accurate.

I've never seen a VQ35 with those mods make more than about 250whp..

What do you guys think?

i think its def off....the highest "stock" vq35 that i've seen was in a 5.5 gen maxima with I/H/E and tuning put down 265whp. i really doubt its possible to put down that much without breaking into the motor or spray. My friend that put down the 265whp has a freak motor.....ahah no oil consumption and runs better than new

Someone was playing with dyno settings or spraying a 35 shot. A FWD VQ35DE is good for 250-260 whp with I/H/E/SSIM and a good tune.

It's pretty suspicious when he says that he "researched" the numbers that 350zs had made on their forums. 286 whp with boltons is RWD VQ35HR numbers.

Listen you can make the dyno give you any numbers you want...I say he take the car some where else and get the heart breaker...

unfortunately this guy will probably not, but get him to 1/4 mile to get him to prove his power...

Like he also said in the thread...350zs with way more mods put down less powah then him...that should tell you something right there, someone messed with the dyno.

not too mention his answers are vague

I bet if he does he'll just reference 1/4 mile times off the 350z forum again like he did for the dyno #s for his mod set up+swap. Also, I hope he runs against a Z since he makes more powaah then they do.

I'm reading this thread...travis you have alot of patience to put up with it

he said he did these numbers with 2 1/3" exhaust piping...Yeah we know the dyno was messed with.

You should mention that the vq35s dyno around 210whp stock...

Eh, you can make a dyno say w/e you want it to say if you mess with the settings enough. Prove it at the track, period.

The only possible way to even see CLOSE to maybe 270-275whp is if he had the Emanage Ultimate and did alot of analyse with a computer dyno program to determine the air flow and fuel per cylinder, sort of like what DandyMax did with his 3.0. We only just had someone dyno at 260whp (but I think he might have had one or 2 other mods). so the guy is off by 26whp in my book.

I still wanna see your dyno numbers travis. It'll put his stuff into perspective.

car does have an EU and we will be going to the track once it opens, and we are gonna go to another dyno. hi guys

hi travis how yuh doin?

that dyno was at a pretty popular shop over here in nyc, i called the owner and he said he never had any problems with the dyno, and theres some other videos on youtube you can clearly see the snow on the roof of the car. so dont worry track times will come soon.

Nice edit...

Either way, a tuned I/H/E FWD VQ35 is almost always in the 250-260 range, with a rare 270. What makes you think 286 is accurate?

Nobody said that his dyno was broken, all you have to do is change settings, especially on a loading dyno, and you can get wildly different numbers.

Like has been said many times here, you dyno to tune, hit the track to see how much power you have. Dyno numbers are rarely correct.

Easy enough.. just unbolt the 02+ CPS ring, align it with the new (old style) CPS ring, and drill the holes, using the old holes as a template. It doesn't have to be aligned any certain way, or anything.. so, no worries there.

Make sure to hit it with some rustoleum after you're finished drilling..

Yeah, i think the OP just doesnt want to accept that dynos can be wrong. There is a local dyno here, which had several 335i's dynoing in the 240whp range, which is way down from where they should be.

Anyways, people seem to forget that the dyno's have settings and values that need to be inputted, if any of those are off, then the dyno numbers will be off, simple as that.

It is impossible for a fwd vq35de to hit 286whp with just I/H/E. If this was a HR, it would be a different story, but its not. The highest ive ever seen a 3.5 dyno was sleeper, and i think he put down 272whp/249wtq and thats with a huge NA mod list, including cams

That dyno is definitely not accurately calibrated, there is no way he can make that kind of power with a stock engine just with I/H/E. No matter what this guy claim period. Let's put it that way, how many guys on this forum have a VQ35, dozen of them who are very knowledgeable and the vast majority are in the 230 - 245 hp range, give or take few HP's. If the guys would have spend 5-10 thousand $$$ on building the engine I would have believed him but seing what it is, then no way. Bring us solid undeniable proof and I'll shut up, but a dyno slip is only a piece of paper, nothing else. There is 3 possibility, the guys is really naive or he definitely lies or he's plain stupid, and we all know that stupid cannot be fixed. I know there is a lot of work involve in the swap and all my respect for that but for the numbers they are not accurate.

I just spent over 7000$ building my DEK ( blue print & balanced by a Pro shop )and that's not counting the very hard core port & polish jobs that I did on the heads. This is the kind of works that is required to get close or over those numbers. You are plain wrong, by keeping the argument and still believing that you have those numbers just prove one thing that is very sad, you are plain stupid and like I've said there is no cure for stupidity. If you agree one way or another that a mistake was done I'll just re-edit my post and make my public excuse saying you where mislead.

Have a good day everyone.

AA

I gave up arguing with him..

We built a high compression, big cam, ported head VQ35 for a Spec V owner.. I ran the car and trapped 110mph @ just over 3100lbs (with my fat @ss in the driver's seat). I haven't had a chance to dyno the car yet, but, it's GOTTA be close to 300whp.

I'm surprised this thread is still going. Yeah -agreed. I made 243whp (sae corrected) with I,H,E,P.
Maybe they input in the car's weight way over?

I think you'e right - my 225 HP 3.5 maxima (3300 lb) with a 75-shot runs 110MPH / 12.8 ET consistently and chassis dynos show 1 WHP per "shot" , or ~ 300WHP. and I'm ~250 lbs as well.. My dynos are in the "dyno" thread.

That's a d*mn healthy motor you built there....

Yeah.. I'm hoping to get it back and get it on a chassis dyno soon, just to see what kind of numbers it puts down.

Well if this is even relevant anymore, a guy down here made about 268hp on the dyno with the same mods over in VA beach but he got his computer reflashed so i'm sure that makes a difference. I'm not sure if this guy got a reflash as well. If he did then just maybe those numbers are possible.

Quick Reply: Guy claims 286whp, with intake, headers + exhaust..
