Weight reduction: ABS delete

Question about deleting the ABS: I noticed there are 2 lines from the Master to the ABS unit, and then 4 lines come out of the ABS unit.

Is it as simple as putting 2 T's from the 2 master lines to the 4 wheel lines? And then simply removing the heavy unit and re-bleeding the brakes?

This is something id also be interested in, considering my abs has been electronically disconnected for about 4 years, so the unit is there for nothing. Have you tried looking at the FSM and see how the fluid flows through the unit? not sure if it shows that, it should.

Yes.

The only thing different I did was putting a line lock on the fronts.

Awesome. I bought my old 95 back and it's in the driveway getting a 3.5 transplant (700$, 2004 Altima, 66k). I weighted the car the day I got it back (April 1st) and it weighted in at 3000 flat. AC removed only, loaded SE 5-speed, electric moonroof and all. I pulled the spare, jack + 20 pounds of carpets and junk so now it sits in at 2940.

3.5 weights 25 to 35 lbs less and I am removing both bumper supports so it should sit in at 2880 after that. Next I am thinking ABS delete and emptying the rear doors, 2 rear speakers and rear seatbelts.

How much did you get out of the two rear doors Jim? Worth it? I am thinking of setting both windows fixed - I never use them - and grind off the security beams and empty the motors and all. I am thinking 15 lbs per side, plus rear speakers and seat belts - almost 40 lbs.

Target weight is 2800 for free. The setup will be an untuned 3.5 with y-pipe, 2.5-inch catback, 2k2 muffler. Should Haul.

The car is awesome now. My brother reinforced the foor and frame (feels like a cage) and it now has a working 1998 VLSD trans (you can feel it!) with 130,000 kms.

By the way Jim how are you now? Feeling better?

I think I got 25 ea out of the rear doors but very limited on the front because I kept the power windows and stock glass. Definately worth it. The rear doors are still functional because I need to get in to haul all my stuff. I put the leather rear seats out of my wife's old 95 before I scrapped it so it looks pretty stock back there.

Should be a screamer. I'm going to run open headers this year and see how that works, with the spray it really makes a difference but I haven't tried it N/A.

I'm doin great Stephan, still not much feeling in my hands and I think I'm stuck with that but its better than being dead. Had my best season ever last year, made around $2500 plus I still have some cash coming for the local series and next weekend is the CSCS awards and I was 1st in Street Warz and 2nd in bracket.

Good to have you back.

Im not touching the front doors. Just the rear 'cause I never have passengers in the back. Are the security beams in the rear hard to grind off?

Lots of bracket racing this summer for me too.

And remember, Canadian air is 20% nitrous, that's why all the fastest setups come from Canada LOL

Yup - it's gotta be that great air - it can't be the great car builders in Canada...

I'm still thankful to one of them for the traction bars.
