I believe that thread came around after I was done witht he swap. I believe it was around October 2006 I finished the swap (took 2 weeks due to waiting on parts).

Past couple of days I saw the oil light flickering if my rpms dip lower than 600prm. Checked my oil larter that night (after cool down) Dip stick couldnt even get a reading. The next day bought oil and filled up. Now When I drove I'm leaving a baby cloud behind as I roll thru 1st gear and it stops when I hit 2nd.

At this point when I'm at a light idling (670rpm) I would see the oil light just barely come on and flicker. After a long stretch on the highway then stop at a light, the oil light would be brighter as it flickered at a light, till I blip the throttle then it goes away.

Today: No more baby clouds out of my exhaust as i drive, but after 10 min of driving I get on the high way and I can now hear the bearing in the motor loud, and I had music playing. I decided not to take my 40mile trip to pick up parts and head home to switch cars. Motor then gets very very sluggish, and no power. I get up to 50mph and coast to the next exit. Car partly wants to stall at idle so I blip the throttle. the last 5 mile home the motor is loud, I hear clunking, the motor is more tolerant as long as its above 1k and below 2k, so I drive accordingly. Luckily I just make it home and pull her straight into the garage.

My motor had been making odd noises that led me to believe death might be on hand but that was over a year ago and since had been fine. For the past year I had been babying the motor as my transmission was on its last leg so I barely revved past 3k.

Going to pull the motor tomorrow, I believe the oil pump went/dying. Also I'm sure a bearing is loose or something but I'll tear into it early next week and get pics posted up.

Fortunately I now have a 26k 08 Max motor to drop in so I'll spend the weekend swapping again and hopefully be up and running for monday.

i was still breaking my clutch in
Bought her for $520 shipped about 4 year ago. She's been in 2 maxima, had 3 different transmissions, 3 different clutches, 2 sets of axles, and 2 alternators.

Rest in Peace

Man.... if she's knocking look into it while she's still alive.

It hit me today as I was driving that it might be the oil pump, and I figured we'll I'll pull the timing case and visually inspect it and see if that is the problem. if so then get a rev up pump slap it on and maybe i'd be good to go. I was thinking this as I was driving two turns before she really decided to start giving out...

That would be nice if it was a dying oil pump. At least it wouldn't require to pull the engine.

I think i have a bent rod or spun a bearing or one of the main bearing. Which would require a rebuild either which way. When it happened(i reved to 7k) it started missing then went home and #6 cylinder's plug was pretty smashed up

Err next time around im not extending my rev at all................. or i should of put arp bolts in

Eh it isnt that the max is bad in the snow or anything. It would almost be pointless to have a 3.5 swap maxima in the snow

There has been instances where it has snowed on Halloween out here.

Well atleast ill have all winter to buy,Build(probley just some arp bolts)and swap.

I miss my 3.5
