3.5 swap. Shes a runner!!!

Got my timing all set and sealed up, same with the upper oil pan. Filled it with fluids finshed up the other little stuff and fired it up. Wooo!!! Lol. Sounds great, runs good, took it for a drive in my parking lot for a little shake down. The only thing that seems weird, after i bolted the wheels on and put the car down on the ground, the shifter was seezed up kinda... It would still move and go into all gears just really rough even moving the lever around in netural. It never did that up in the air, just as soon as i put it on the ground. Its a brand new zero miles vlsd 5speed, with fresh redline mt90. After i drove it the shifter smoothed up like normal, but when i put it in any gear except for 5 and reverce it has tons of play like its in netural. Doesnt grind gears or make noise. Just the shifter doesnt stay where it should. Also its a B&M sts. Any ideas?

I have pics and video but i cant seem to post them with my iphone...
As for the shifter, the return spring is atatched and working. I just noticed that the trans is leaking out where the driverside axle slides into. This trans is BRAND NEW wtf!!!

im not questioning your knowledge/intelligence but when a situation comes up sometimes its best to cover all grounds ya know...

did you FULLY seat the driver side axle? i know that sometimes i can push the axle as hard as possible, and its still not seated. i usually have to hit it with a rubber mallet or something... also, it is the correct axle? not sure the differences between a lsd and non lsd axle...

Alright i think i might have figured out the trans problem. I "think" i have a driverside axle for an i30 vlsd 5speed, but my tranny is an 01 AE vlsd. The axle i have fits and goes in all the way and the locking ring clicks in, but i think the splines need to be longer. Seems like if the spline part of the axle was longer it wouldnt leak. I searched but couldnt really find any measurements to confirm what axle i have. The splines measure 2 3/8"

Sure you didn't tear the axle seal installing the axle?

The outter black rubber seal? After i pulled the axle out that was the first thing i checked, and it looks fine. Unless maybe some how it shrunk or expanded after sitting in its crate for 5 years in my garage before the install.

i have used an i30 5spd vlsd axle in a 01 AE lsd transmission 5spd.

When i installed the driver side axle didn't go all the way in and caused a leak. I found out it wasn't seated all the way in, once i hit the other axle end with a hammer it went in all the way.
