Starter Destroyed My Fidanza

Anyone else had issues with the teeth getting ground off the flywheel by a starter? I changed mine around 2K miles ago and the last month or so i've been having worsening starting issues. I had a P1320 and a miss fire so I replaced all the coils, which fixed the miss fire but not the starting issue like I had hoped. I had a 04 Taurus that had exactly the same problem, starter chewed up the teeth on the flywheel and would only start after a few teeth clenching grinding false starts.

My question;

1.-Is it likely that my flywheel is shot?
2.-will replacing the starter and filing the teeth on the flywheel potentially fix it?
3.-Does anyone have the specs for resurfacing OEM flywheel?
