Right, either way, needs something to make adjustments, either a SAFC, or a Haltech, something its needed.

BBMAF, or the Z32 MAF in my case still needed a lot of fuel to not run dangerously lean with de-k injectors.

what i'm trying to say is that with a BBMAF and DE-K injectors you won't need to add a lot of fuel because you are running rich to begin with ,but a tune would be to get the best performance of that combination.

schmellyfart ... a Z32 maf and a BBMAF are for different things ...the z32 maf is to get a bigger voltage reading in a boosted aplication ,and a BBMAF in the other hand is better for N/A to give a more unrestricted flow to the engine because the air is getting sucked by the engine and not pushed like on a boosted engine

Yes the two MAFs are commonly used for different things.

Unrestricted flow you say?

The 3.0 Had enough fuel to run hard w/ the 3" maf on the throttle... But @ idle

And I want injectors big enough to throw stuff off, I'm starting w/ Z injectors though.

They're technically bigger than Z33 injectors. But no one has any idea what they're duty cycle % is @ their rating, I'm sure the Z33 info is online somewhere though.

I'd like to run DE-K injectors but I don't live in the land of DE-K's where their injectors are boundless and plentiful.... So if something goes wrong....

But I do live in the land of Z33 injectors...

I really wanna do 370cc.... Yeahhhh boiiii!

ME GUSTAAAAA

Z32 ID" Plz? From what I research it's 80mm or exactly the same as the A32? Which was like 72mm right? If it's 80mm or so I may scoop one of those turkeys up.... The less PVC piping the better

Edit: 60mm same as the A32 maf, just missing the extra lego piece in the middle.

I will be goin with the Q40fizzle maf, rumors are it's 80+

Edit 2: Q45 Maf = 83.25MM ID / 90mm OD..... We have a winner!

03-05 Z33 IM (Why? Because there's a ton of em @ work, and getting a motor as cheap as I did, didn't come with a IM... also bling factor)
5/8s spacer
Hacked off elbow replacing it w/ a 3" ID pipe w/ to fit a Q45 TB
Q45 TB
3" ID Intake Piping
Q45 maf
All above = Me drowning my 3.5 in Air

That car got SMASHED, it was on the loosing end of something, I've never seen coolant lines destroyed like that, but the oil pan, UIM, and other things check out fine, I guess it was a good hit but nothing ridiculous. After some quick checking, the motor is in good shape, there aren't fluids where there shouldn't be, oil is a good color, NGK Iriduims, etc. the whole 9, car was cared for until it's demise... or at least right before it's demise...

The partial stripping of a 205k+ Mile '99 Maxima SE-L Engine Bay in preparation for a motor+tranny (typical FWD style) removal.

Done for now, tomorrow the VQ30 comes out.

You're going to swap oil pans so the flywheel sensor lines up? Just curious .....

Motor Delete Mod Sucessful.

Found too many shavings in my transmission oil though... Maybe a quick rebuild is in order tomorrow.....

Tomorrow's task list includes (and hopefully limted to)

-Putting the car on 4 wheels again.
-Moving it out of the garage.
-Washing the engine bay out.
-Cleaning up the garage (BIG MESS )

-Setting up shop for VQ dismantling/Rebuilding
-- Take apart the VQ30 and find out what failed
-- Time the VQ35
-- Have a buddy inspect my 6MT

-Shopping for the parts destroyed while removal:
--Rubber Hoses
--Some wires
--Power Steering Reservoir

Good night fellas.

Big question... Without a big *** air compressor.... How does one effectively get a crank bolt off???

What he said.....

Yes, it will. I've done it twice. This way all the sensors line up, and use the 3.0 crank pulley as well - or the car won't start! Also, things like remembering to ground all the injectors to the block are important. If I was you, I'd use the stock 3.5 intake manifolds to get the engine started - fewer things to worry about at startup - although you would need a Pathy TB for that.

You're really gonna like the extra torque of the 3.5 with the 6spd....

I mounted the engine on a stand with a flex plate bolted to the crank, clamped vice grips on the plate so that the engine couldn't rotate in either direction, (jamming against the motor stand) got a 24" breaker bar from Harbor Freight and their impact sockets, and heaved on the bar until the bolt broke loose. Lefty-loosy. Not sure how that works with a flywheel, but maybe you could find an automatic flex plate somewhere..... it's much thinner..

Well bad news, bent my trigger ring on the flywheel getting the crankshaft bolt off, so I am quitting while I am ahead and just having my mechanic do the rest and I'll just drop the motor in my car.

And yes no IFO next week for me

I should have everything I want completed sometime this month and hopefully have my car on the road before my birthday... WITH The aforementioned intake mods (If things were sucessful this weekend I'd be borrowing my friend's UIM+TB+Intake to get the car running for IFO.

Yeah, I should have used the flex plate I have and used that to pry off the bolt instead of my one-of-a-kind flywheel, was not thinking too far ahead, my fault.

Oh wellz, cut my losses, both motors goto the shop tomorrow, and I get to clean up the garage and study for finals at least...

I still have a TON of crap to do on the car even w/o a motor and tranny, still plenty of things wrong w/ it to tackle.

Bingo, that's the point of half of the modding on my car, to dominate the IFO AMS class in the midwest region.

Hopefully the tranny isn't too f'ed. But hey atleast they're cheap.

I just got mine back together, so it's time to throw it in the car and have some fun in the snow. lol

I've always just jammed the flywheel with something and used a big *** pipe over a wrench or a breaker bar if your a baller.

Oh nevermind, just saw that you got it loose.

I definitely think an all motor VQ could trap more than 114mph with ease.
It's gonna be getting the car off the line that's gonna be hard.

Suspension and some nice slicks are in order.

Highly doubt he's in AMS, if so that's the fastest full weight AM hatch in the country, not very far from the fastest street N/A car

Faster than any N/A 3.0 for less than half the cost is the goal.

That's definitely not the fastest ams car. There was a crx that went very low 11s in ams. I can give you some ideas to lose weight from the car while still being legal if you want. PM me, I'm the lightweight king. lol

Also, keep thinking about the rules. A properly built ams car will be faaaarrr from full weight.

The all motor pro cars are running low 10s, one just got into the 9s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ie7pb...el_video_title

he needs to be pumping out more than 470 to the wheels. something doesn't seem right. somehow i don't think he'd conform to AMS rules.
