Wink My Stage 2 VQ35 Longblock Build from IPP (Import Parts Pro)

Guess i'd make a thread since the motor is about to be done within a week or 2

everything i did on this car/raced etc so far was on a stock block

I plan on spraying from a 200-250 shot of nitrous

i sent out the motor December after i got a deal from IPP after comparing prices with shops all over the country on what started as just a stage 1 short block built

but ended up being a stage 2 Long block build by the time i was done lol

Specs on the new Long block

Wiseco Pistons .020 over 11:1
Pistons ceramic coated bottom / skirts
Eagle Rods
ARP Rod Bolts
L19 Head studs
Block inspected and cleaned
Block redecked
Block Bored and Honed using a Torque Plate
Rotating assembly balanced
Crank magnafluxed and the journals micro-polished
New Moly coated Race Spec main bearings installed
New Moly coated Race Spec rod bearings installed
Block assembled
New OEM Head Gaskets
Heads inspected and cleaned
Heads redecked
Ported exhaust and intake runners
JWT C2 Cams
JWT Heavy Duty Valve Springs
5 angle radius cut valve job
New OEM Valve stem seals installed
Valve Stem Heights set
Cold Clearance set for cams
Heads assembled
New OEM Rev-up Oil Pump

My goal all motor is 320whp and if this doesn't do it i'll be getting Haltech and possibily working on switching to ITB's with e85

Goal on nitrous is to get about a 125-130 mph trap

excited on this baby coming back

Yup - the HRs and studs are what I used. That looks like a REAL build! Now you can install the '07+ UIM and LIM from an Altima or Maxima and really breathe! (I'm using a '08 Altima pair).

FYI - If you look at the May 2012 Car Craft page 23 you'll see comments on nitrous sparks plugs on a Chevy build - very relevant to 200-shot nitrous, and also why I'm using NGK R7438-8 stock#4905 plugs. Especially important if you kept stock valves.... Race-Mart has them the cheapest I've found.

Looking good - get 'er done!

already got em down coach lol i've already planned on getting em

Still debating on which direct port kit i should go with... already selling my single fogger kit

i need a good dual stage nitrous shot with a controller that will let me spray say 75shot in first...175 in second and 250 in 3rd and 4th

I figured you were on top of things - but a reminder can't hurt.. You can choose hard-line or flex-line direct-port installation. After doing it, flex-line is easier, to me. You can build your own that way. I still have that boatload of parts. Use the NX Lightning 15201L and 15300L solenoids, a NX Maximizer 2-stage controller, and some good small nozzles and you get two programmable stages of controller. These NX controllers are really easy to program and use. One stage for first gear and the second stage for upper gears. I'm going to change my first stage to drive-by-throttle and limit to 75-shot in first gear for a better launch then go to RPM-control for the upper gears. I've never seen a nitrous controller with more than two separate programs.

Go gettum...

The drive-by-throttle setup is set to start at 50% of throttle and you control what percentage of your jets you spray up to 100%. You can program anything you want between 50% and 100% of throttle. I figure that's where I need that kind of control in first gear. Staying below 75-shot should protect the engine even if the ignition advance goes up.

im gonna try to get like bigger slicks upfront so i can do a 100 shot in first gear and then hook with the 250 in second

i think i should be good for a 100% in first at wide open throttle ... its really just test and tune

but this is later planning i don't car about the track ..sure a good pass would be nice lol all i have is the best trap of a little 92 mph in the 8th lol nothing else ... my main goal is really to put some cars i race south the border in check lol

92 MPH in the 1/8 is really good..!... South Of The Border racing, eh? Is this a road trip? Can I watch?

Seriously, here's the link to the instruction manual for the Maximizer 3 :

http://www.nitrousexpress.com/maxdl/...izer3reva1.pdf

This is great stuff..... but, I amuse easily....

If you are spending that kind of money on an engine you should get a Haltech. You will see more power gains. You will definitely get over 320whp with all of that with the Haltech.

Hmmm lol might just do all that AND haltech lol ... alot of org locals here in houston said 320whp all motor is def ... so if i can might just try for 350whp im not too worried about all motor ... mostly nitrous lol

still debating on what manifold too ... probably gonna end up making a custom one

for anyone planning on doing any builds this shop has THE best pricing ... i researched for 2 months on which shop to go with and found these guys and then realized oh LOL there in town and just drove upthere and dropped off the long block

http://www.importpartspro.com/st2vqloblni3.html

this is the package i got and added on the L19's and ceramic coating on the pistons

and saved almost a $1000 after comparing totals to other shops

They have really really good deals compared to other prices on engine builds

AND this is the shop that Meximax (560whp SC'ed VQ35 4thgen) got all his parts from 5-6 years ago !!!

hmmm ... have you dyno'ed your car all motor

im still debating you think this is a better alternative then a custom manifold or even a kinetix ... (Well the ports don't match on a kinetix though so idk if i'll go with that )

No dyno yet. A) I don't care about N/A power, 'cause timing is fuxored for REAL nitrous power, and I'm not racing N/A. B) I'm not done with the development yet. E85 = bigger fuel pump, bigger fuel lines, bigger injectors, gold-plated spark plugs. Already have the huge filter...

Ask SurraTT about his plastic project - see if he has an opinion on the mod. I think it's great. Kinetix is likely a waste of time. I'd like to know more about sparks03's design and why it's supposed to work so well. There might be something good there for us mere mortals.

i do care for all motor power .... just a dif map for it maybe lol

it all depends on what she puts down when i get it up and running

i still like having fun picking on the local maxima's *cough aackshun and maxima.713 cough* and the slower cars lol

and then there's the racecarz crew i hang with lol i just like having fun overall with everyone i guess haha

best of both worlds haha

I doubt you will get over 320whp on pump. Judging from the 350z guy's builds your build would hit 320ish but they have long tubes. I would guess closer to 310. I hope I am wrong though for both our sakes.

There is a 4.0l stroker that only hits 325whp in a 350z.

Personally I think you will need C8s or higher for cams and an EM that can adjust the cam angles(Hal-tech). The C2s are pretty mild. Any reason you don't want to go with a more agressive cam?

Its a ballpark you never know

Spark made 285whp on bone stock long block ...

a i know a 5AT ser altima made 310 whp on just a Cam Full bolt ons and a tune

well at the end of the day its still a maxima a C8 is too aggressive and aren't ypou suppose to rev high as fuuu on em? lol ... and on nitrous i think i'll be alright with C2's

i had custom headers made with bigger runners/collectors and a bigger custom y pipe made so im good with the exhaust

Yupe thats it

compared it to the Cattman / ebay and i had mine made a little bigger

and you can just see the RL y pipe vs my new custom y pipe is much bigger

and while i did all this on the stock manifold stock motor i gained power all motor ... which i thought i might've lost

went from trapping 79mph all motor to 82 mph all motor

so im hoping to see some decent gains with this new motor once i decide on the manifold

It's good that you have lots of great racers around to run with and learn from. Not much of that here in Kansas, where I have to tow at least 150 miles for a real race. At least my dyno shop is in KC, about 80 miles away.

Si señor. I have finished installing the ported OEM heads and upgraded cam. I have been running around on a first cut tune (running a bit rich) and am waiting on a new throttle body since I think my OEM is a bit restricting up top.

I don't want to hijack your thread, but let's just say that the current baseline heads/cam dyno numbers were a bit above what I was expecting.
