HR Springs, stock retainers ok?

I see lots of people use the HR retainers when using HR springs.. If I ever get around to the swap, will I be ok with just the stock DE retainers?

valve train talk

Before i begin getting into the valvetrain stuff

KEEP IN MIND: the most important part of the valvetrain is the valve spring itself (it's the part doing all the actual work compressing)

==> you can use any vq3x retainers

the only difference between 3.0DE, 3.5DE, rev-up, and HR is shape of retainer top and weight.

rev-ups are the lightest with most of the retainer area filled (flat top) vs dished top (DE) around the valve keepers

I've swapped HR springs/ Rev-up retainers into a few 3.5des, great results.
I've swapped the complete 3.5L springs cams and retainers in a 3.0de.
done HR springs/ rev-up retainers into a 3.0deK.
and built 3.5L heads with only HR springs w/ 1 extra shim for more installed static preload (3.5De's already have 1 shim in there) using stock 3.5DE retainers (not much difference between the Hr/DE and Hr/rev-up retainer combo)

lighter retainers is like having the new dlc coating - it's icing on the cake. (with HR valve springs being the actual cake)

now having DLC coated buckets, hr springs shimmed, rev-up retainers on HR heads would probably be the ultimate setup (without actually having to cut into the head for porting/reshaping)
--even though i'd still enlarge the head inlets for getting the best lower manifold-to-head port match since not all line up right stock.

3.0Lde(k) -- cam = 8.5mm (9.0mm) lift
3.5Lde -- cam = 9.5mm lift
3.5Lrev-up -- cam = 10.5mm lift
3.5Lhr -- cam = 10.5mm lift

^^^ don't use 3.0Lde valve springs with rev-up cams because they might bind.. and in drops your valve @ 6K rpm

Thank you very much Viper!! I was feeling a bit iced out over here.
I'm currently double shimmed, with the stock DE buckets and retainers. I suppose no cake for me because I kinda find the task of compressing the springs to be a PITA, but I just wanted to know that the DE retainers wouldn't break w/HR springs at high revs.
