Smile Hood Scoop + Air box

So i went to a car show all last weekend and was selling off some things i had that were not doing me any good. One of two things that did not sell was a battery box. Looking at the box it made me think of what my friend said to me and that was to make an air box to go with the scoop. Started this project Thursday and i got pretty far to where i can drive it around but their is allot more i am going to do Drain hole, paint, etc.

If anyone is wondering what its made out of its plastic containers, battery box, kwik JB weld and fiberglass. You may notice the duct tape but its just temporary until another weekend that i can make the scoop so air tight that when you block the hole you can kill the engine. The intake really SINGS now

I have never been on a Dyno, I wish I lived close to one. Do you think standing still compared to moving will effect hp?

The curvature of your hood will actually creat a vaccum, just like the top of an airplane wing. This will overcome any benifit of a low profile scoop. So the answer to your question is no.
A taller scoop might have some ram air affect. Even better, turn your scoop around for a cowl induction, there is a high pressure zone directly behind protrusions such as a scoops.

thats a nifty idea i never even thought to look up aerodynamics and see the best way to tackle the scoop for flow. Do you think reaching for a little bit taller scoop when i go to turn it around will help or is the low pro still ok for that?

don't know if you can really capture that on a dyno since the car is stationary and all you have is that fan blowing and the hood will be up while dynoing anyway. So its pointless. While driving 70mph might be a difference in real life, but cant see this making any more power on a dyno.

You should wrap the outside of the box in heat reflective tape.

Today a friend I know said maybe instead of flipping the scoop, I should just make another smaller hole at the back of the scoop. He said it decreases air pressure allowing more air to flow threw the box instead of trying to force it in. What's your opinion on this before I hack an extra hole in the scoop?
