Leaking Power Steering?

Hi Guys,

Pardon my ignorance if I'm posting in the wrong forum. I have an 03 maxima and I've been losing the Power Steering fluid recently. It only started happening about a month ago. Before I didn't notice the difference, but one day my steering started sqeaking when turning, so I checked the reservoir and sure enough it was below the minimum for cold. So i topped it to just under max/cold line.

I'd say maybe a few days to driving, and it went back to a little below the minimum. But now, after about 4 weeks of topping off once a week, i noticed that there's leakage on my parking spot just about the place where the Power Steering mechanism might be situated.

What I'd like to know is, (and i've searched the forum already) is it just my high pressure hose or the pump? I was able to take pictures of some fluid I can see leaked onto the bracket that holds the line right next to Strut tower.

Here are some pictures I took. Circled one in red to give you an idea of where I see the fluid in engine compartment (apart from ground).

In this pic you can see the fluid/moisture...

Thanks a lot everybody. Your help is much appreciated.

Sorry for the ridiculous photo size. I'm not sure how to resize 'em...

It does appear to be your high pressure hose, to confirm this peel back that insulation with the 'E' on it in the picture. If it's wet it's your high pressure hose. It will get really bad fast so I'd suggest changing it as soon as possible, if that is in fact where your leak is coming from.

Thanks BigLou. I've closely inspected it by moving the foam insulation, and mannn it was a hot mess in there. Fluid literally oozing out of it.

I'm going to have to bite the bullet and replace the hose. Shame it's kinda expensive...the aftermarket seems iffy because I've heard it makes noise initially..

Go to the wreckers, its 9 years old, should be lots to choose from. A you-pick is best for price.
