I asked this about 2 yrs ago.. Back then, no one had tried it.. Wondering if anything has changed....
Can I swap a VQ30 timing set, and oil pan on the VQ35HR motor? Run it with the VQ30 ECU?
Did any of the accessory mounts on the HR block change? Like, for the AC compressor?
My setup right now is running 2002-2008 style Maxima engine with the VQ30 timing, and want to know how practical it is to go with a VQ35HR instead.
Thanks

There is no FWD variant of the HR. Since the mounting locations are different when comparing the FWD and RWD VQ, you not only have to worry about your current issue, but the mounting as well. If you have the time and disposable income to do it, be the first.

The 09 Maxima motor will work the same with 3.0 timing.
Its a lot of $ to spend on a motor just to dumb it down with 3.0 timing.

This is what i was thinking, its not really worth it, just get a normal 3.5.Originally Posted by SurraTT

I would say the same but then again if you think about it in the long run if he keeping the max and only doin bolt-ons then i can see the hassle of goin that route.Originally Posted by Crusher103

The motor you purchased and the motor the OP is talking about are not the same one...
You're at least 20hp, quite a few CC's in the intake manifold department and one pair of variable cams short of the motor in the original post....
One would just simply say you're just poasting away like a jack@$$.....

Yes/No.
If we pretend the 09 is the HR motor then you would need timing adapters for the cams.
The 07 Maxima is the same as the 02 maxima.
The 07 Altima v6 is different slightly, but I would venture out and say it's different just because of the position of the VCT actuators.... This is nothing a FSM can't answer for you though....

I should have been more specific.
If you were going to use 3.0 timing equipment on a 07+ Altima or an 09+ Maxima engine, could you use older 3.5 DE cams?
