Sharing my build...

So I had a cammed DEK awhile back. Switched to a hybrid VQ35 and I blew it up. So now I has one of these...

- VQ35DE block, stock pistons and rods - bored 40 over.
- ACL Race main bearings & rod bearings
- ARP head studs, main studs, rod bolts
- Polished 350Z crankshaft (same as A33 model)
- Ported/worked 3.0 heads with JWT S1 cams and HR valvetrain (compression ~11.5-11.8)
- SSIM, PFTB, 82mm MAF
- e-Ultimate/AEM wideband
- v2OBX/equal downpipe
- 3" testpipe/3" Cattman
- STOCK 5MT, Exedy stg2 clutch , Fidanza flywheel

Haven't done much for tuning aside from cleaning up the closed-loop operations, I am pulling a couple of degrees of timing across the board. One of the welds on my v2OBX header broke, welded it back up, sounds great, car is making great power, and spins my new Toyos like crazy in 2nd gear.

Stock rev limit for now, going to tune to 7500 RPM, 12.5 AFR, and will leave timing alone until I get on the dyno.

Does anyone have a setup like this? Any suggestions on setting up timing #s at redline?

PICS below.

Quick VIDEO: lots of wheelspin

I have a similar setup except with 3.0 JWT s1 cams, wiseco 8.8 comp pistons and eagle rods. Had a problem with cycl 4 and I'm getting all the bearings replaced again.

Your using the 3.0 heads for more compression?

Dude ... this is ... yeah. First of it's kind. Don't want to sound too overexcited but everyone talks about doing this that or the other, and you went and did. Rare on most forums.

Glad someone finally did it, contrary to what everyone has said/posted about the 3.0 heads.

Was there a reason why you went that route?

Kept tabs on it on FB a little, but didn't know the guts/nuts/bolts of it til now. Assumed it was a run-of-the-mill VQ35 swap.

Yes the reason I had was because my heads have had extensive work to them. So the compression bump and the increased flow over stock VQ35 heads was a no brainer. Massive port job, flawlessly polished exhaust, and 5 angle valve job.

The intake ports were port matched as well to fit the VQ35 LIM and SSIM.

Manufacturers have been doing this for years. Most of the new HO V6's are 11.5 or so CR, and are able to run on pump gas, 91.

Reason enough. Makes sense, hadn't thought of that.

The place that did these heads stated that they modified the combustion chambers for knock suppression. (DPR Racing)

Have a look at the oil passages , might be debris in there .

Thanks everybody for the support. I will bump this thread with dyno #s once they become available. I plan on getting a street tune going once the snow melts and I do one more oil change and you will get to see more video.

Misfire is somewhat resolved - it's due to one of the remote mounted coilpacks arcing on a A/C hardline by the firewall. So I need to get stiffer mounts and relocate the coil to ensure it does not happen again. It doesn't happen often but when it does I get

Yeah man, nobody really even knows about DPR Racing, but my tech (who has built Supras DSMs Terminator Cobras etc) was shocked at how great the port job looked and the polished exhaust side.

I learned about Dan Paramore more than 10 years ago from reading SCC lol...actually spoke with them back in 2001 about building the head of my then daily driver '93 Altima KA24DE. I just couldn't swing the money back then which I regret- they all but guaranteed me about 20whp+ on top of bolt ons on that particular motor with the proper header/exhaust setup.

They're one of the very best in the country period, congrats...
