Tuning a "stockish" engine....any point?

What kind of gains could one therorize on a simple tuning ?
Can tuning favor certain areas in the rpm range like low end, top end, mid range, or spread thin through entire?

I am completely new to performance, so be nice.

wrong section...idk that either... lol

I think if you have gutted cats, test pipe, 3" intake and 3" exhaust that would be the minimum mods required to benefit from tuning.

what if i already have 17 deg timing advance... is that half of what tuning does?

i have NWP Intake Spacers /17° Timing /Gutted Cats /WS-Y-pipe /FastCat /Blehmco Grounding Kit

that's it on my engine mods...

and to clarify not necessarily needing a spoon feed for my particular case, but just trying to understand the reasons and benefits , pros cons, to tuning, to see when and why you need tuning.

You won't get much top end with the intake/exhaust restrictions still in place, but you would definitely benefit otherwise. Eh, Monceff?
Being able to crank up the intake/ignition timing and adjusting AFR to be optimal would have to make a big difference in the low-midrange, I would think.

Now, if you're just talking about AFR...forget it LOL.

I'm with monceff on the intake/exhaust mods. Without spending a lot more money, I would just do those and be done with it.
