Advice for the next step on my car?

So I am looking to get into the power area on my car. Im working with a 2001 Maxima, 5 speed, 193k miles. Ive taken care of it like a baby since I got it when it comes to maintenance and repairs. Did the clutch, a cat back exhaust, plugs and a bunch of other things I cant think of off the top of my head. I am trying to figure out the next step as of power. My options are
1. Hr swap
2. Build the 3.0
I know its harder to mod the 3.0 more than the 3.5, plus mines at 193 so I dont know how much more itll take if I add power to it. Im open to anything, just not on the crazy price range area. Any advice is appreciated!

Any specific brand? Also would it be easiest to pull the motor for that considering the bolts have to be drilled out and re tapped

I would get these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/OBX-Long-Tu...E/113736394402

If you have a close quarters right angle drill it may be feasible without removing the engine. Are the studs rusted?

Yes they do. You'll have to delete your egr if you have one because these don't have an egr bung. These are also known as OBX V2 headers if you search for them on here.

You have to plan your mods. An HR swap would need a full rewire. Otherwise you'd be doing a hybrid swap, 3.5 on 3.0 timing. I don't know if you can achieve either on your budget unless you buy a complete but cheap 3.5 donor car and do everything yourself. Don't forget tuning.

Headers would be a good choice since you can keep them if you decide to go with a 3.5. You can find headers with an EGR port if needed.

I highly recommend a brake upgrade. There is no point in going fast if you can't stop.

Front brake swaps are easy. 02-03 are bigger than 00-01 and fit 16" wheels. 04-08 are bigger yet but 17" wheels are needed. Some say 00-01 17" wheels need spacers.

Brakes are definitely on my next up once my factories are ready to be replaced. It sounds like headers and a y pipe combo are gonna be my go to as well as an egr delete. I have a lot to learn and look up and this is a great start. Thanks all

Some 5th gens have an EGR, some dont - I just don't know which is which. At the very least you can search a local junkyard for a 5th gen without egr and grab the ECU and EGR block off plate to swap on your car (if you do have EGR) You will need to have your new ECU reprogrammed to your key, however.

It varies. For instance,

I parted a 2000 and it had EGR. But we know some don't and you can get an EGR block off plate from the dealer.

My old 03 Altima and the various 02-03 Maximas did not. My dads 07 does not either. My cousins Altima SE-R did have EGR.

None of the 01's have egr. Only some of the 00's. If there are 4 plugs on the front of the engine(behind the radiator), it doesn't have egr.
