Running a system with stock Bose system...

Is it possible to run amps and subwoofers with the stock Bose head and speakers? I know people have probably asked this many a time, but "search" never gives me very good results. I don't know a TON about mobile audio, but I know some, so if you can help please respond! Thanks. -Dave

This is what you need to add a sub and amp to the Bose system.

http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/PERNISSANAR95

It plugs into the back speaker harnesses and has RCA outs. Make sure your amp has a low pass otherwise it will sound like crap. This is not the cleanest method (because it converts the BOSE high level signal to low level) but the only one that will let you keep your factory intact without rigging.

How much is that adapter? And when you say "back speakers" you mean the rear speakers in the car right? Thanks for you help, I appreciate it.

It's $49.95 on sounddomain... They plug into the rear speaker harnesses and convert the highlevel to RCA's. It lets you keep the rear speakers and add a sub or replace the factory amps. Here is the description...

"This adapter allows you to retain the OEM receiver and replace the rear OEM amplifiers and speakers with aftermarket components. You can also retain the entire OEM system and use this adapter to add an amplifier to the existing system. Direct plug in adapter to replace amps or add an amplifier. Note: not for use with Nissan Quest (use FDAHW)"

The above link provides a clean way to install aftermarket amps, subs, and/or speakers on your 2002 Max with BOSE. It's a little more pricey than the converter magnetik recommended, but it's also BEFORE the BOSE amp, which has it's own internal crossover. In effect, you get a full range signal from the back of HU, instead of a crossovered signal from the rear speakers.

Either way, make sure your amp has a low-pass filter/crossover in it to get rid of all the highs. Highs + Subs = Crap
