Hooking amp to subs?

I finally was able to hook up my amp, I figured out I had blown a fuse! You know how there are 2 wires that go from ur amp to hook up your subs, and on the subs their are 2 plugs. Does it matter which wire from amp hooks up to the plug on the sub. I didnt word this well, but i hope I gave a general Idea. PLZ respond, i need to hook up my subs. I dont want to blow my subs or anything by connecting the wrong wires.

BTW- For amature stereo people like me, If you unhook ur amp take out the fuse on your wires or else it will blow!

Yes, you have to hook positive to positive and negative to negative, they should be clearly labeled on both the amp & sub.

You can unhook your amp w/o blowing a fuse. The only time I've ever blown a fuse with loose wires was when I put my power wire out the rear of the trunk to get it out of the way, and the exposed wire managed to touch a bolt on my license plate.

Someone else more knowledgeable might want to clarify exactly what not to do when unhooking an amp/working with loose wires. I think you just have to make sure the exposed part of the power wire doesn't touch a metal surface...(I e-tape the power/ground ends when working with loose wire now)

Another thing to consider is that the Power Cable for your amp should be fused 18" or less FROM THE BATTERY. If you remove that fuse near the battery, then your power wire can touch whatever it wants all day long without blowing any fuses. Just a thought.
