MP3 player?

I'm looking to replace my Aiwa CDC-MP3 head unit with something that doesn't skip like a ****. In fact, something that almost never skips. Used to have a Pioneer CD deck that didn't skip even over train tracks!

Anyone have any suggestions? No other bells or whistles are needed although having preamp outs is required.

Just curious if Pioneer and SONY try to keep skip-free performance in all their products or if companies let that quality slide when it comes to MP3's. I guess if it had electronic skip protection, the transport quality would be less of an issue. As far as I know, SONY own's or controls a majority stake in Aiwa, which has disappointed me...

Sounds great. You wouldn't by chance know if it has electronic shock protection or if this is just because the transport mechanism is good.

Hmmm. I see Pioneer has the DEH-P7400MP--maybe that's what you're referring too. Actually, it has everything I need, and even has sub preamp outs...

And speaking of advice-taking, looks like I'm getting an Infinity Basslink that you have too...

Anyways, thanks for the suggestion.

oh boy.. basslink It's good for all the practical reasons
For a small price difference, stay with the Pioneer 'Premier' line (better warranty) compared to the regular Pioneer line.

You can get the Basslink for ~$250 from Carmedia or check w. Don, aka Pearl96max on the org, he deals with Infinity.

Dang, carmedia has good prices! Where were you when I ordered this thing 3 days ago? (They have it for $239) That's OK, I still got it cheaper than the local circuit city.

Can I ask you where you put the basslink and if you mounted it vertically or horizontally?

It was mounted on vertically toward the back. I hope you have a study floor panel to mount the basslink brackets onto.
