need help with amp/sub

I have a Knewood 729 s
- Maximum Output Power: 600 Watts
- Power Output at 2 Ohms, at 14.4V (1kHz, 0.8% THD): 150 Watts x 2
- Power Output at 4 Ohms, at 14.4V (20Hz-20kHz, 0.08% THD): 100 Watts x 2
http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/pr...&productId=713

and 1 Rockford ZFosgate RFD1210
- Impedance: 4 Ohm DVC
- Power Handling MAX: 1000 watts
- Power Handling RMS: 500 watts
- Sensitivity: 85dB

I have it in a sealed enclosure and I am running each voice coil to a seperate channel on the amp (one vc to left one to right).
My problem is that it just doenst sound that loud. THeres no distortion but i had 2 ****ty *** 8 inch pyle subs hooke dup to the same amp and it was loud as hell.

Can anyone help me out, suggestions without tellng me to get another sub or a new amp.

Thanks.

That amp is a little under spec for the sub. It puts out 300w rms bridged, where the sub recommended takes 500W rms. And that's a max of 300W rms @ 14.4v. I think I'd look to get another amp that puts out a little more juice.

I couldn't find the RFD1210 on Rockford's site. But the 2110 with the same power handling is a dual 2 ohm VC sub. I'm thinking yours is dual 2s. If so, I'd definitely wire the voice coils in a series to achieve a 4ohm load, and wire + / - to the amp in such a way that it's running bridged @ 4 ohms. This is the way to achieve the 300W rms rating. Right now, the amp is running in 2-channel mode, which isn't how the sub should be wired up.

Hmm, then you might want to wire the coils in parallel for a 2 ohm load.

The amp specs say it's stable at 2 ohms, but it doesn't come out and say what impedance the bridged mode runs at. So I can't say for sure. I searched on the web for that amp and in one place it said the bridged mode was 300x1 @ 4 ohms. I can't recommend that you wire it the way above until you find out for sure it bridges @ 2 ohms or not.

Maybe someone else can pick up where I'm leaving off.

Anymore suggestions?
Or anyway I can rewire this to sound better?
This is really annoying the hell out of me.

Like I said, I can't elaborate any further on the above...

...but I can tell you the quick way to fix your problems (provided the sub is still in good-working condition)...

...buy a new amp that puts out ~500W rms @ 2 ohms

The last thing you want to do is run each coil from each channel. That is unless you know for a fact that you can match the crossover points, gains, etc EXACTLY. Otherwise it is just like hooking up 2 amps to one sub. Not a wise decision, unless like I stated you can match Exactly. Your best bet with your setup is to run your sub in 4 Ohm mono. which would include bridging the speaker in series. The RF amp is not 2 Ohm MONO stable.

Many amps are 2 Ohm stable, but only in stereo NOT in Mono.

I just exchanged my kenwood 829 in today for the JL 250/1. I can't believe the difference in sound quality. I thought the Kenwood sounded just a tad muddy, but the JL Audio 250/1 sub amp is just an amazing little amp. It's driving a single 12w3. I probably should've gotten the 500/1, but the 250/1 is just fine.
