How mant wattage/amperage can the OEM alternator handle

I'm in the process of looking into my audio mods. My stock bose sys took a nose dive about a year ago, since then I've replaced it with a Kenwood KRC 407, Rockford Fosgate 6X9 in the rear and 5" up front. I've been looking at the RF amp models #250 (I think it's 250W or something like that) will this kill the alternator in the long run. I believe the OEM alt rated at 85amps @ 2K rpm. I'm not interested in installing a capacitor to handle any excess power drain, I'm just trying to enhance my sound I currently have. I was also sold on the boom box that has one 12" (leaning towards JL) and a 6 disc Kenwood cd changer.

Micah95GLE, not too sure who you're asking
But, I have a 93SE. I also have a UDP, what if any effect will this make. When the UDP was installed, I did a before and after electrical/charging system test. The readings was the same between the two test

I don't know what the output for 3rd-gen alternators is. I know the 4th-gen outputs, though.

Is this a good price?
The stereo shop gave me a price of $750 for RF amp (#250), one RF 12" box, Kenwwod 6 disc changer, plus all hardware. I was not able to get a itemized list, sorry
hey candi

one amp will not give you any problems.I am running about 100 amps of amps, and besides some dimming on full tilt have had no problem. use common sense don't crank it up when other accessaries are pulling juice.
the udp will add extra stress to the alternator, and most of us with high end systems avoid the udp for that reason. I have a big battery and a 1.5 farad cap, and still get some dip, Matt 93GXE is running about the same power as me and has toasted an alternator, but we are running over 1000 real watts. (@14+ volts)
Does your price include install? If it does it is a decent price. Not neccesarily the way I would go (but that really don't mean much), it will probably work out well for you.
NICE VE DUDE!
