2003 Maxima w/Bose Replace
2003 Maxima w/Bose Replace
I've done tons of searches and read screenfulls of posts but have not seen the definitive answer to these questions...
For my 2003 Maxima SE with Bose 6-CD in Dash:
1) What is the impediance of each speaker? (I've read the tweets in the pillar are 4 ohms, what are the front door speakers rated, the rear door speakers rated, and the sub rated in ohms)
2) I think I know the answer to this but just want to make sure, are the tweets in the front pillars wired (crossed over) with the front door speakers or do the tweets have a separate wire run with a capacitor blocking lower freqs?
3) If it's possible to buy components for the front and use the Bose amp, how hard is it to run the wire from the door to the tweets in the pillar(if the impedance allows this)? How/where would you recommend running the wire?
Being as I just bought the car and need a little time to recover financially I would like to upgrade 1 piece at a time and it sounds like the front speakers would be the best place to start if the impedance allows.
Thanks in advance for your answers!

Re: 2003 Maxima w/Bose Replace
You are in for a ton of work, here. I'll start you off with this thread. It will not answer all your questions, but may help down the road.
I've heard that the door speakers and subwoofer are below 1 ohm. You will be happier replacing the entire system rather than trying to buy/install OEM interfaces. Just my opinion, though.

In the long run, yes I plan on replacing my entire system, but for the short term, I was hoping to be able to replace only the fronts (tweets & front doors).
I know the tweets are 4 ohms, but what are the front doors rated?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
