You ae better of going to a local shop, or finding someone that lives near you to do it. The shipping would kill ya.

Or why not do it yourself?

Well if ya built it yourself, it would run ya approx. $30 and a trip to the store for the materials.

LOL Im just thread whoring today. I can help ya out, but being that it is youre first box, try for a sealed enclosure, it is easier to build and will give better SQ.

If you build it, you can charge him $100 as opposed to Tweeter @ $200. Itll cost you about $25-$30, and you will have enough material left to do several more.

Don, MY FINAL question, I think

Subs say they need 1.25cf will I be hurting them if I only give them 1.0cf?

Yeah, unless you have woodworking or composites experience I wouldn't attempt a ported box as the first box. $200 is actually quite low for a custom box from an install shop. Considering construction time, shop tools, etc. Most shops charge betweeen $25 and $75 an hour for install time. The materials cost for a typical box are very low, as Don mentioned.

You will not be hurting them, fill the interior of the box with polyfill. Most speakers have flexibility with the size they are in. If is not EXACT it should not hurt them, unless it was a really high end/extremely sensitive speaker.

Don I lied, I have another question...the friend of mine who is putting these 2 10" Xtants in his car...already has a Bazooka bass tube...now...when he got this bass tube, he bought a 8 gauge wiring kit...is this enough for his 2 10's now, or should he invest in a 4 gauuge wiriing kit?

Polyester fiber. Basically pillow stuffing. There are higher end materials, but it's extremely unlikely that you will hear a difference. You can get it at Wal*Mart, Kmart, or any craft place for cheap.

The wireing will depend on the size of the amp used.

The amp used is 800 watts...200 watts rms per sub...at 4 ohm...

Okay, I remember reading that. The link indicates 120 amps of fusing. The wire should be able to deliver the current without voltage drop / heat. In that case you should use 2 gauge if the wire is less than 13 feet total from battery to amp. Larger wire if any longer, or for less voltage drop.

Sorry, now I remembered if you are running it 4 ohms stereo and don't push too hard the current requirement should be much less. You may be able to get away with 4 gauge. But I always like to prepare for the future and possible problems. So I would still use at least the 2 gauge.

Ahhhh...that's what I do for a living. I work with all kinds of wood, plexi-glass, laminate, flooring, etc. I'm sorry, but I wish you lived close by or near the area, and I would have built you one for a reasonable price. Shipping is definitely an issue. It's just too darn heavy. And, I do make good, quality boxes, because they are all made out of 3/4 high density MDF. Plus, all the cuts are machined cut and routed on high quality CNC machines. In fact, I made a few with plexi-glass "see-through" windows and all plexi-glass boxes. Shape of box is no problem, either. Again, sorry, I only do locals. But, if your willing to pay for shipping, I can see what I can do?

Just to clarify.....MDF..is still Medium Density Fiberboard correct?

You beat me to it! Yes, high density would be HDF. But higher density doesn't indicate that it is any better for speaker boxes, only more expensive to ship. Composite and or baltic birch are the way to maximize sq and reduce shipping charges. They just cost 3 times as much for materials instead.

I had to say something about that right away. I mean his statement was High density MDF. I was like . The only other thing that I have used was Ultralight, but only for weight purposes.

HDF is a real material. From what I remember it is fairly expensive. But other than it's difficulty to move, lack of desire to vibrate because of it's high mass it is basically no better than MDF, for speaker enclosures. The added weight makes it a no-go for in car use.

O I do agree that HDF exists, but he said basically HDF MDF. I mean its either one or the other.

Yes, that's what I meant---MDF (medium density). I was practically falling asleep when I posted. In fact, my job doesn't even deal with high density wood. Not a lot of people use it. Yes, thank you for bringing this to my attention! Sorry, if I confused everyone!

800 Watts definately needs 4 AUG. Also, do yourself a favor and download blaubox. You can still find it on the net and it makes box building that much easier.
