Sealed or ported?

I have 2 JL 10w1-8 (they are the 8 ohm speakers) speakers and i have a sealed box that they are in but i went to JL Audio web site (note that i dont know everything about audio ) and got the specs and closer info. and was wondering if it would sound better ported? Also it says i should wire them parallel, will that sound better?

Thanks
-Mike

properly built, they should sound almost identical, except for the fact that the ported box will throw down better

from the looks of it, your ports are WAY too small for the 15L7. i think my friend had about 90 in2 of port, and yours looks like its about 1/2 that much. you might consider making the ports bigger, and that might take care of you.

I happen to have 2 10W1-8's in my 2001 SE. I used the air-space specs - not actual box dimmension specs in my custom made enclosure. The box I made looks like it is a single enclosure, but it is dual chambered, and essentially each sub is in its own box. Since this is the case, I run a 4 channel amp to them and I have it bridged to a 2 channel set up. You can check out the pics on my web page http . I know the pics are crummy, but what do you expect from a crummy Wal_Mart digital. If you come up with any questions, let me know. I'll be more than happy to try to help.

i told him that already + his ports are facing up there hitting the trunk after like 2" of space...i have a 12"L7 and my port is like a foot and a half long and 3 inches wide = rectangular port

as for the original ? it all depends on the music u listen to. i like ported because the bass is lower. Sealed the bass hits harder and cleaner
