Mounting amps on sub box

If you mount your amps on back of the sub box, and you use screws, and they pierce the sub wood, does this affect sound quality at all?

I want to get a dual 10" sub enclosure and mount my two amps to the back of the enclosure to save space and weight.

it shouldnt cause any problems, as long as there are no air leaks

Yeah that sounds about right. Just make sur the screws go in tight and straight.

use short screws so they don't go all the way in the box. That was if you ever want to move your amps, you won't have numerous holes in there.

Ok thanks for the tip. Now I gotta buy a dual 10" ported box and two 10" subs.

if you are planning on buying the box online, I highly recomend www.speakerhole.com . They can make a premade box, or one to your specs for a very reasonable price.

They are very good!

I built my own dual 10" box with .75 cubic feet in each side for a total of about $30 in materials and 4 hours time...so consider that as well.

Wow great prices! I was thinking of getting a dual 10" sub box from eBay, but these look better. Are they good quality boxes? I'd guess so, but it's hard to believe with prices that low. I'm surprised how inexpensive they are.

For the dual boxes, if it says 1 cubic feet, is that the total space or per side?

DO NOT GET A BOX FROM EBAY!!!! speakerhole is 10 times better with better prices!!! The volume is per chamber. Make sure to get 3/4 mdf.

No way would I build my own box, it would be the ugliest thing ever, plus it would sound like crap. I have no skills at construction

but, what you fail to realize is that you could try 3 times, and still pay less for a box than what most places charge pre-built. all you gotta do, is have someone help you design a box, and then you carefully build it. there is some skill, but most of it is patience.

The speakerhole boxes are around $30-40 plus shipping. I hope they don't make up the difference in shipping so it stays a good deal. If I cared that much about the sound quality and performance, I'd try to learn a bit and build my own box. As it is, I just want loud and better than stock, so I'll settle for the pre-built . Besides, I have no patience.

Thanks for the tips, all.

the shipping is quiet a bit, but you have to undertand that it's a huge box they'tr shipping.

Does shipping cost more than the box itself? It's still a good deal compared to Crutchfield or a big name place, and I still don't have the energy to build my own, so I'll be buying one from them soon.

Seems they got bought out and are now Sirius One. Hope they still sell quality products with good customer service.
