i'm sure lots of you guys have done it but...how easy is it to put 6x9's in the back of a 4th gen max? like the actual cutting and fitting? i thought about going to best buy but i think they'd probably rape me in price cuz they're expensive as far as installing stuff. i'm not experienced with audio and electric stuff aside from putting new speakers in the front doors of my car and making a template because they weren't the right size. any help is much appreciated...thanx

what are you talking about the gains are not worth the trouble. For peopel who do not want to put loud subs in their car it is perfect. If somebody does not listen to music with alot of bass they are the perfect solution, loud, hard hitting, and a decent amount of bass.

I listen to both dmb and phish, and i think both bands sound much better played on my twelves than any 6x9s i've ever heard. Personally, I don't think 6x9s do justice to any music...that's just my opinion though!

I personally dont listen to rap at all. Wouldn't phish and dmb be considered rock or, are u stereotyping rock music the same way you are stereotyping car audio enthusiasts?

i am not stereotyping anything, phish is not rock. I personally think music without much bass such as a band like dmb or phish sounds awful with subs.

You couldn't be more wrong!
Brendan:

If the system with subs playing music from bands like dmb and phish sound bad, it's not the subs, it's the setup. I play everything from jazz, classical, trance, dance, house, rock, etc. I have a single 15". If you are in my area, you are MORE than welcome to meet up with me to take a listen. My jazz bass is nice and tight. My buddies that are crazy into jam bands like Phish and Modesci Martin and Wood, Phil Lesh, Trey Anastasio, always bring along their favourite cd's when we go out because they just love how they sound in my car.

Again, if you are in the Toronto area, at the next meet, I'll show you what proper tuning sounds like.

it's good that you have a 15 and you enjoy it, 15's arent for everyone, you can get very good resluts from 6x9's. And I'm glad you have a good setup, some people may think its not worht it to have one 15 inch, some might, to each his own. If you read the thread my friend Jeff wanted 6x9's. I myself have 2 12's, I know the benifits of large subs.

I agree, 15's aren't for everyone. That was totally besides the point. The point was that the sound systems with 12's you say sound terrible when they play things like "dmb and phish", don't sound bad because they have 12's, they sound bad because they aren't setup right.

i'm just looking for something that sounds good that doesn't cost too much. i want a little bit of bass but don't think i need subs...plus i don't want to have to buy an amp cuz they're double the money of 6x9"s...i have eclipses in the front and need rear speakers, that's why i'm thinking 6x9s, but if you guys have a better suggestion without me spending over $200 that will sound decent...i'm all ears(or eyes in this case). thanx for any and all suggestions.
