Loss of Sound

Has anyone ever added PolyFil to their box and noticed any loss of sound or bass? I have 2 JL 12's and last night added 20oz. of poly to each chanmber, and this morning noticed it didn't even sound like there were sub's back there. Earlier in the day, they were working fine. I did remount my amps, but I don't think thats it. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem

There shouldn't be any reason your sound should be affected in a negative way. Is the polyfill secured in your box? Could it have worked its way behind the cone or something? Sounds like you did something different in hooking up your amp or sealing your sub, wiring your sub..something like that.

Are you supposed to secure it? I just stuffed mine in there and put the speaker on top. Is this potentialy bad?

If your sub is mounted to the top of your box, then don't worry about it. I thought maybe if your sub was down-firing, or mounted to the side, some of the poly suff may have fallen in there or something.

maybe some of the polyfill got wedged between the coil and cone limiting movement?
