I've got a 2k2 with the Bose cd changer.. I'm thinking of either getting a creative nomad MP3 player (or something similar) or a Sony XM external receiver so I can listen to mp3/xm in the car as well as in the house. I really don't want to spend the $$/time to replace the HU with another.

So, I guess what I'm asking, are there hookups on the bose/clarion HU for something like this or am I going to have to go with the tape or FM approach?

Nope. Bose systems are closed. Either replace the HU, or not. If you go the tape or FM route, you do realize that you are also reducing the quality of your MP3 or XM player?? Digital quality will be reduced to FM quality.
