well u need to be more specific. when u buy components, they give u an rms value for each channel. usually this is the rms value of the woofer, so in most cases u can give more power to the component. like with infinity kappas. they are rated at 90 watts rms per channel, when in reality the woofer itself can handle 90 watts whereas the tweeter can handle 50 watts rms. with diamond audio this isnt t he case. diamomd hex's and m6 series speakers that are rated at 170 watts rms per chanel take into accound the woofers rms rating along with the tweeter. the woofer in that systen is rated at 120 watts rms and the tweeter at 50 watts rms. so it depends on the manufacturer. but its rare that u will melt a crossovers components unless u push way too much power to them. this also depends on the quality of the crossover itself. a cheaply made crossover can have a component that might melt, such as a resistor if the wattage values are too small or the tolerence of a resistor is too big. hope this helps. if u need anything more specific drop me a line

I just got some Alpine SPX 177a's and on the box it says 60 watts RMS... what kind of bull**** is this? I bought an amp that pushes 150 to each speaker yet it cant even take half of that....

My friend has the same speakers and is pushing 150 to each as well..... geuss i can too.
