Help me choose a amp
I went to circuit city with no intention of buying because you can always find it on ebay cheaper ... anyway i'll tell you the details of my system so far
Head Unit: pioneer deh-6400
Speakers: pioneer ts-a1665 (4)
Subs: pioneer ts-w304dvc (2)
now the only this left to get is an amp. When i went to circuit city they guy said that with the specs that i have in my subs he told me that the mtx thunder 4250D is the best one for me. I've also been looking at the mtx thunder 6500D but it might be a little too powerful for me. What do you guys think

The RMS on your subs is 300 each.
The 4250D will underpower the subs by a large amount, but is a great amp.
the 6500D will give you 250 to each sub, which is a better ballpark.
Save a lot of money and get a JBL bp600.1 amp and give each sub 300watts for a lot less money!

seriously though.. you can always turn it down, you can't make it louder.. better to have more amp than too little.
*if you're looking for a single amp system, there are some great 5-channel options.. the memphis belle comes to mind..

JL 500/1.....
It sounds really great on my 2 jl 12's, there was a test done to it and the company said that that amp runs almost 600 watts or over though it is rated at 500 watts. It also has the unique feature where it runs at the same amount of wattage no matter what ohm load u run as long as it is between i think .5- 8 ohm. oh yea, retail stores usually sell them for $560 but i can get them for $340....

i have a 250 watt mtx amp running 2 10" pioneer 350 watt subs and it sounds good to me. i wont win any spl competitions but it sounds clean and for people who say thats not enough power, people turn heads from 50 feet. the 4250 is plenty. but id also go with the 600.1 my friend has it and its amazing. just watch out for your headlights dimming.

1. Buy a 1 ohm stable 1 channel amp that puts out 600 watts to 1 ohm
or
2. Buy a 2 ohm stable 2 channel amp that puts out 300 watts to each channel at 2 ohms.
or
3. Buy two 2 ohm stable 1 channel amps that put out 300 watts to 2 ohms each.

If you wanted that amp, you would need to wire each voice coil in parallel and two subs in series or each voice coil in series and the two subs in parallel. Either way it is a 4 ohm load and you will only get 150 watts to each sub. Better options would be:

can you tell I've discussed this one before?

by running your DVC's in parallel and then both the subs parallel you will get a 1 ohm load as long as your subs are dual 4 ohm subs. but if u have dual 2 ohm subs, u can wire the sub series then wire the two subs parellel and it will give u a 2 ohm load....
