Ever wanna just RIP your stereo out and go to stock
Grrr, when my system was first installed it all sounded so nice and clean and beautiful and over the past two months the sound quality has slipped a little. First the sub, i know what caused that, it broke the screws holding it down and at the time i had one meter RCA's, it flopped around the trunk and pulled on the outputs(non-fading), since they were in my hideaway reciever box for the LCD in the trunk and then they cut in and out over bumps. Then the front right speaker started to cut out, WTF. so i replaced the amp to speaker wire, no dice. switched the external x-over's side for side, no dice. then i started checking the RCA's first thing i notice, i'm a moron lol, the front and rear were crossed, no biggie i switch them. now rear right speaker. so i'm like it must be the outputs, i look and right rear is RIGHT next to the non fading which got pulled so it must be loose, i check it is. so now i have at least 3 loose RCA outputs i'm gonna rip out the box tomorrow while i'm at wortk and try and have ti fixed and hopefully the electronics shop across the street from the bank can fix it tomorrow. shouldn't be anything major. but other then that, i don't know if it's my hearing going(possible) but it doesn't have the crispness that it had originally. i'm gonan sit down tomorrow with fawn and have her adjust the x-over's on the amp and gains while i sit there and listen, cus i did switch around rca's. all and all i just want my new sub and good rca outputs.
i'm just frustrated cus i bought high level stuff, Kenwood LCD, Phoenix gold amp(both), kicker resolutions components, boston NX series rears ect. oh well tomorrow might fix most of it then i'll get my new sub and BOOM BOOM BOOM. i might be happy again.

that's actually wierd....my system is the one of the ONLY things that I have not had ANY problems at all with in my car (modification wise).
I've had mine installed since summer of '00...and no problems to date.
BTW - I have rockford fosgate and pioneer equipment.

it wasn't as bad as i thought, 20 bucks i got the connections soldered back on, adjusted the x-overs properly and it's back to the ear piercing loudness that it was before, i just need that IDMAX asap. too bad i'm selling the car in teh spring, i never should have test driven that G35 coupe.
Without being rude, That's why you install it RIGHT the first time. bolt everything down so that it doesn't move, and terminate all the connections properly. the RCA connections on the amps aren't designed to have stress on them all the time, so you have to leave enough room on the wiring so that they won't be pushing or pulling or twisting on the fittings. it's just bad news. I've ruined several amp inputs from that over the years.
once I learned the basics on that, my system was loud, clean, and NEVER had a problem. this one's only been in a few months, but I haven't had a single thing go wrong with it, and it sounds almost as good as my $15k system in the house.

I would NEVER let anyone do your stereo. When you do it, you know it's done right and you're next to guaranteed that nothing will go wrong. I've had the same pair of subs for 3 cars now. I would still have the same head unit and amp, but I blew them both (oops
).
Yup.. the amps I'm using are all at least 5 years old. I bought two of them new in 1995, and I've bought the rest used between now and then. they quit making them in about 1997, so I KNOW they are at least 5 years old. the subs I had in my last install were some of the beginning JL 10W6s. I bought them in about 94. used them until I wrecked my last car a year ago, and now they're in a friend's car, still pumping hard.
the head unit and EQ I bought in '94 I sold to a friend and installed in his car and told him NEVER to pull it out of the dash unless I did it. it's still playing just fine and has never had evena glitch of a problem. only time that CD player ever skipped was the night I wrecked my car and hit a tree. (hmmm, you wonder why it would skip then?
)
anyway, a correct install is the #1 thing to worry about in the car. you can spend all the money you want on $$$ equipment, and it'll still sound like crap unless it's installed correctly.
