need help w/ video cables... s-video or RCA

guys i need your help... my video cable i'm using for my in-car computer (RCA) sucks. It's about 15 ft in length... so i'm thinkin i should make mmy own video cable? what options do i have out there. are S-video cables expensive? I do have an S-video output on the computer and s-video input on the LCD. I didn't go that route becaues it may be too expensive, altho i never looked into it.

I just need some sort of good cable that I can run from the trunk, under the door sills/carpet to the front-passenger-dash area. What do you guys think i should do??

S-video is better. It isn't necessarily that the cable itself is better but the S-video out will be a better video signal than the composite on the RCA out.

They are generally more expensive but RCA cables can be ridiculously expensive too (when they're expensive they're called interconnects though )

I don't think I've seen a long S-video cable (over 10' or so). I did use a coupler to join two 6' cables for my home system and didn't notice any video problems. So if you can't find a long one that might be an option.

The video outputs on computers are not really that great. An S-Video cable will help the picture, but a monitor with the abilty to display VGA from a computer is really what you need for the best quality. Also try dropping the resolution setting on the computer. That may help.

video rca

im assuming u have that 5" monitor at the the bottom by ur shifter right..... use a good pair of high quality rca jacks only thing bad about it is that ur only goin to use one of them... i havent seen maybe one a 15 inch lcd with a s-video and rgb input..so rca is the only way... even the good quality brand lcd screen form 5" to 10 use rca in puts... but if u get like one of those all in one tv radio dvd 7'sreen radios out there the pic is real clean.... like the kenwood and the pioneer... but thats blowin ur budget

on a 5-7" LCD I doubt there will be any visible difference in the picture, but the s-video cable will definately make your wallet look thinner..

alot thinner, seeing how you have to run the length of the car.

some cables aren't meant to be made really long as the signal will deteriorate over long lengths.

I have a 10 foot S-Video cable from my comp to my TV and it looks perfect. RCA suck compared to S-Video. Oh yeah what did you tap into to connect your power inverter in your trunk. Getting my screen thhis month. Gonna start putting the computer in.
