I am not all that informed about car audio and need some advice. I would like to upgrade my 2003 SE (w/out bose system) audio. My main want is bass but I would like some sound quality as well. What should I start with? I was thinking about adding an amp and sub first. How good are the speakers and head units on the 2003 maxs? should i change them first? A friend of a friend is sellin his JL 12W6 w/300watts for $125...is that a good deal? its about two years old.

any advice and recommendations of other models would be great. thanks.

 

I'd have to guess they are good enough stock speakers to hold you over for a while, or till you blow them out trying to match them with your bass if you get that W6.

Yes its a good sub, outdated, but still good. If its in a box its a decent deal. I'd say go with bass first because your car is brand new, but I have no clue if your stock headunit has RCA outputs for an amplifier for bass. I doubt it so your gonna have to start with a new head unit, unless you have bose, then get the adapter thing from a car audio joint which will splice into your rear 2 speakers converting the signal to the appropriate for adding an amp.

 

good point...maybe someone can tell me if the 2003s have the outputs for the amps.

the sub doesn't have the box and he is selling it because he totaled his car so he took out the subs before mailing the car in. what are soem other good subs out there in the $200 range.
