I have a Panasonic Head unit running the stock bose speakers in the rear deck in a 3rd Gen. When I turn the volume up loud they kinda crackle and it sounds like they are shorting out. I checked all the wiring and stuff, is it because they can't handle the power or what? Anyway what size speakers are they cause I was thinking about replacing them anyway. Any suggestions are welcome.

zap. Impedance is probably "wrong"

Bose speakers are generally 1ohm, and have amplifiers built into the enclosures. Probably you get crazy clipping.

If the speakers are still alive, you could either get anothe Bose head unit and get good sound, or replace the speakers and get what you expected.
