I read the thread on how to do it, and the line convertor's etc needed. But how many of you have actually replaced your Bose head unit with an aftermarket one and kept the bose speakers. I will be adding a 12w3 JL soon, and would rather have the amp running off a nice RCA signal from an aftermarket radio versus a RCA-Line Convertor setup running off my rear speakers. Also any recomendations for a cd player under 300??

Replaced mine last march with a Pioneer 7400 and a Empeg car mp3 player. All the aftermarket stuff will be fairly cheap now since all the new stuff will be coming out soon. You should be able to find high quality ones for under $300. My pioneer was $250 when I got it.

Originally on my 2k3 I had just replaced the head unit, but I used the Scosche FAI-3 converter to work with the factory amp. It sounded a world better once I got rid of the Bose sub and let the hole act as a vent. Then I heard some amplified components and was forced to dump another almost $1000 on another amp, wires, and speakers So much for the simple install

I did it in my 98 SE. Got my Clarion HU Line outs to feed a PD-4 from www.linkmeup.com. The PD-4 then fed a BOSEfied signal to the OEM BOSE amps and speakers.
