Stock BOSE unit has stopped playing CDs.. What should I do?

I have a factory BOSE unit that has stopped playing CDs. The unit used to display ERR every once in a while but now it doesn't play any CDs at all. Regular CDs and burned CDs don't work. I see BOSE headunits on ebay for 250 dollars. I don't know if it's worth it. What involved in installing a factory headunit? I know the BOSE system doesn't really play well with aftermarket headunits. Will I have to replace the speakers too? Maybe I can just get OEM CD changer?

How about satellite radio? I know that won't enable me to play CDs, but I'll have more music selection than I do now. I read a thread on satellite radio but I'm not a audio person. How would the satellite radio be installed? I need music!!

i'm not sure how well stock speakers work with aftermarket head units since stock speakers run on their own amps which i think r weaker than most aftermarkets...u SHOULD be able to buy an aftermarket stereo and probably a wire or 2 to make everything work but if u looking for cheapest and most reliable solution, u can go for another bose head unit, but mine along with a million others on here have lost their head units to the dreaded ERR message...so its only gonna be momentary before u get it again...

I have my old 98 bose HU, I was planning on selling it to another member of the org but he never responded to me about it after I gave him a price. If you're interested, pm me. If you plan to get an after market HU, all you would need is the bose speaker adapter. I use one with mine, I still got stock speakers, and the sounds is still amazing to me.
