Just installed sub/amp. Sound is kind of flat.

I don't hear any thumping. I have a JBL300.1 amp and a Kicker VR 10" sub. I know it's not going to wake the neighbors with this setup but I was expecting more. I checked the sub connection to the amp. I checked the sub preouts on the deck. Any suggestions? Anybody have this amp or one similiar?

just make sure your wired in parallel and you should be getting full 300 watts from the amp and it s hould sound pretty good. I had 1 VR 12 for a while and i like it, theni got 2 an dlike it even more,
Make sure your sub is firing toward the back of your car also that makes a world of difference.

Your sure you got power to it? If so, check the gain, make sure it's up 1/2 to 3/4 without cliping.

The green light is on the amp so it's getting power. I'm getting bass but not as much as I would of hoped. The amp has four terminals for speakers -+ and -+ right next to each other. How am I suppose to connect that with the one sub?

With as low of an ohm load as possible, I forget off my head, the VR comes with either singe or dual vc right? Which do you have?

Yep, I have the dual vc. I hooked that up right from the instructions from Kicker.

Ok so take the instructions and run it 2 ohm mono...Make sure it's not running 4 ohm stereo, cuz that would be why you are not getting power.

you should bridge it. The negative wire goes one channel on the amp and the positive goes to the other. You may also want to check the bass boost if the amp has one.

If thats what you did then you know how it is connected to the amp.

Here is how it hsould be: one set of wires one pos, one neg out of the amp from the point where it says 2 ohm mono with a line to a pos and one to the neg out of the amp to the first sub then take it from that sub to the next sub.

This is the thing that confuses me. I have in the past bridged amps that were 2 channel. But this is a 1 channel amp with 4 speaker terminations for 2 seperate subs. I'm assuming I just pick on set of +/- and use it and not hook it up like I'm bridging a 2 channel amp.

Damn, if I had known Image Dynamics had a free-air capable sub I would have bought it. As it is, I just ordered a Kicker Comp 8" a few days ago. It was one of the few subs I could still find that specifies free-air usage.

I've got my DVC running on the two outermost terminals if that helps any.

If this is a DVC sub, which it seems, connect each coil to one of the speaker outputs ( with 4ohm coils, this should net a 2ohm load ). If you want to run a single cable, you can use either side of the connector and make a "Y" cable out of it with equal lengths instead of running the cable to one coil, then jumping to another coil....

So you have it like this-

-->-/+ -/+<--

with the arrows pointing to the terminals you have
hooked up

If it is hooked up that way, it is wrong. See the owners manual, page 4:

Right, so it doesn't matter what set of +/- you use cause it's for multiple subs.

So if I have the 600.1, how would I wire up a dual 4 ohm DVC sub correctly to get 600 watts?

Coil 1 +/- to one side of the connector and coil 2's +/- to the other side. This will net a 2ohm load to the amp....

I'm using only one set of wires. I wired the sub up parallel.

I've got the sub wired up right to get the 2 ohm load.

I'm still confused though. What terminals am I supposed to put the two wires in? There are 2 positive and 2 negative, and none are labeled bridged. Those instructions didn't help me any, as nothing is labeled bridged. Thanks

THere should be a little line that conects one neg and one pos that says 2 ohm above it, anything like that? Or a switch that says 2 ohm mono? I would think it would have one of the two.
