like a 4x20 character lcd or a 7" lcd?
i dont think you can display MORE info than the headunit already does. so if you are playing mp3s, and the headunit only says blah.mp3, you wont be able to extract out the artist and title of the song and such
i'm sure its possible, someone more electronically inclined will probably be more precise than me, but off the top of my head
1) figure out the pinsouts/connections from headunit guts and headunit led/display
2) figure out how to interpret the data being sent from guts to display so you can manipulate it
3) reformat the data from guts to display so that the new lcd can understand and interpret it
4) figure out a way to connect lcd to pinouts/connections of guts along with something to reformat the data from the guts to the new lcd
this should be the basic idea (i think)
if i'm wrong, i apologize for being dumb
