Help!...went from Bose HU to Pioneer HU and now I have poor reception and antenna prb

I just went from the '99 Bose headunit to a Pioneer Premier DEH-P840MP headunit. Anyway, the headunit looks awesome but the radio reception is bugging me. I have never heard any bit of static on any of my favorite radio stations until now. I paid $12 for an antenna adapter. Do you guys think that could be the cause? I don't think its the headunit because it retails for $550.

Also, with the stock Bose HU, the antenna went down when I listened to a CD. Now, the antenna only goes down when I turn the headunit off. Is there anyway to make the antenna recognize when the radio is not on to go down?

Thanks so much for your help,
Jonathan

My best guess for this is because the Bose HU uses a diversity antenna which means it has two antennas and chooses the one with the best reception. The Pioneer HU of course does not support this and you are only getting the typical reception from the main antenna.

As for the antenna not going down, this is a side effect of Pioneer. My 7400MP did it and there is no way around it. Enjoy your new HU otherwise!

Did you get the diversity antenna adaptor or a generic adaptor? I think the diversity adaptor does merge the 2 antennas.

A generic one I believe.
