Amp connections

I currently have a kendwood head unit which only has one set of pre-outputs. I have a 2 channel amp connected to them. The 2 channel amp does have one set of pre-outputs to connect to another amp. I recently acquired a 4 channel amp.

This is my question: The 4 channel amp has inputs for the front and the rear. There is also a mark that says mono. I can only connect one set of patch cables, but I don't know if I connect them to the front or rear inputs or the mono. I know I will loose the fader control, but would like the 4 channels to work.

Can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Call Kenwood. Actually, all of the 4-shannel amps that I have ever owned have had the option of 4-independent channel inputs or one pair of "master" inputs that sends each (R&L) signal to their designated channels front & rear.

Do you have the owner's manual? How about a model number? We can help only if we know more about the amp. Just knowing that is a 4-channel Kenwood amp tells us nothing. They change from year to year. I will be glad to help w/ the right info.

the 4 channel amp is Sony XM-404EQX. It has front and rear inputs. The front and rear right inputs have a mark that says "mono".

I'm sorry if i confused you, but the head unit is a kendwood.

Thanks

Sony's website does not list that as a model for which they have electronic copies of the owner's manual. Call (800) 222-7669 for either another copy of the manual, assistance in hooking it up, or both.

Thanks for your help, I really appreciated. I went ahead and called Sony. The rep was very helpful. He told me to use the front inputs and I should still be able to use the fader controls on the head unit this way. I also went ahead and ordered the manual, which was $5.00 bucks.

Once again, thanks.
