Radio/CD problems

'96 Maxima GLS CD/tuner/tape player w/Bose will not accept a CD. If the radio is on when the car is started, it turns off after a couple of minutes with "CD err". Pressing the FM/AM tuner button resumes play for the rest of the trip. The Nissan dealer says a replacement radio cost $350. Is there an alternate solution to this problem?

Re: Radio/CD problems

Welcome to the world of playing burned CDs on your stock bose system. You'll find that many of us had the same problem and nobody has a definite solution for it. Except replacing the head unit.

I have 95 SE and has the same Bose system, however I never had problems on playing CD-Rs on it. I cleaned the head unit with a CD player disc cleaner a couple times though when I got the car (used). Could it be yours needed a little cleaning too?
