Bondo on wood?

Is it possible to get that smooth glossy finish on a piece of flat wood with just primer and paint?

Or would I need to put a layer of bondo and lots sanding to get that smooth glossy finish?

I'm no carpenter, but I thought there were special wood fillers that you can lay down before you paint. I think you need something or else you would be priming and sanding for years.

You can get a glossy finnish on wood. Think of a baby grand piano. Just lots of sanding and a high quality paint. Probably a few layers of clear coat would not hurt either. You would have to take the same steps if you were trying to get a glossy finnish on fiberglass.

I think those grand piano use some sort of polyurethane coating on top of woodstain. I guess I could sand it really good. Paint it and then follow it up with polyurethane coating. I might just take the easy way out and just use vinyl.
