alpine vs pg amps

Unless Alpine has changed something they are great amps. The PG's are also great amps. But they are not both designed with the same goals. The PG's are rated stable at 1 ohm stereo, 2 ohms bridged. Alpine 2 ohms stereo, 4 ohms bridged. Therefore one big difference. The PG Ti series for the most part have more complex crossover networks than the Alpine. Unless you need 1 ohm stability or the crossover capabilities of the PG I would say the alpine will work fine for your application. Remember, a watt is a watt regardless of who's name is on the face of the amp. Your ears can not tell the difference between a clean watt from a hifonics amp or a zapco amp.

Tell you what, drive over to my house and we'll do an A / B comparison. I have one of each. By the way, the PG is more expensive.

If you honestly think you can hear the difference between two amps RC has had $10,000 on the table for over ten years. No one has collected the money yet. Trust me when I say that you can not hear the difference between amps at the same power level. Because the human ear has not yet been able to do it. Even when comparing class D to A/B or A. The differences we normally beleive are related to the amp are simply differences in gain setting's.
