Help! on Head unit swap

Help! on Head unit swap
The head unit in my 95 GXE (non-Bose, single DIN AM/FM/CASS) retired itself. I went on eBay to upgrade to a CD unit, & won a Bose Double DIN unit with single CD.
Installed unit last nite, and all parts work, but sounds like $#!^!!!
I need to know if I missed something? Or is the amp in the unit toast(under 30 day warranty from eBay seller)?
Or do I need improved speakers?
Sounds either over or under powered for he speakers.
Please advise!!
Thanks, Jim
95 GXEw/roof Stock as they come, 120K.

Re: Re: Help! on Head unit swap
Yup. It's an in-complete BOSE system. You'll need the amps for each Bose speaker and the BOSE speaker themselves. Ain't no half steppin'

Yes the above posts are correct, you will need the rest of the Bose system for it to work correctly. Although it still will only sound as good as Bose can after all the time and effort you will put into it.

the general concensus of the people here seems to be that it's not worth it to try and and add the bose system to a car that did not already come with it. You would have to spend alot more money to get the rest of the system - the speakers and amps - not to menion time and aggravation. You should have gotten the non-bose double din unit. It looks exactly like the one you got, except it doesn't say "bose" on the face.(it also has it's own internal amp, unlike the bose headunit) Maybe you can return it, or sell it and get the right one. I know alot of people on here don't like to bother with the oem stereo stuff, and prefer to get an aftermarket headunit. I myself prefer to keep the factory oem look on the dash, and I'm sure I am not alone. But, everyone has different needs, and tastes in audio. well good luck, if you need anymore help, most of the members on here have been through it all.

Re: Re: Bose Head unit
Well, almost. The BOSE HU doesn't have and standard lineout RCAs or anything, and even if you were able to tap into the audio signal coming out of the HU, the frequency response would be non-standard. So you would have to make it standardized somehow.

This might be totally wrong. You can get different speakers but will need an amp to power those speakers because the BOSE radio is not supplying enough power.

I am very glad I found this site. If anyone from maxima.org wants it, I'll sell it for $100 plus shipping. Email me at maynardus@aol.com
The auction ends 2/19.

Did you see this site?
http://www.installer.com/cars/nissan.html
I just saw it in another thread. It gives you a few more options with the Bose HU.

Nope. The BOSE HU is either the heart of your system, or it's not. No in-betweenies.

My relays have plastic covers. Does anyone think that it may help to get rid of interfence from generator or gears by putting an outside sheild on all of the relays and also grounding the shield?
thnx
